Gaywaves is the longest continuously aired LGBTQ public affairs radio program in Ohio and probably beyond, having originally aired as Radio Lambda in the 1970s. The show's expanded format and pre-recorded interviews have given the opportunity to share parts of the show beyond NE Ohio. This podcast is the best of the recorded interviews with LGBTQ news makers and opinion shapers from all over the country. The interviewer is Eric Resnick, a premiere LGBT newspaper journalist formally with the now defunct Gay People's Chronicle. The podcast features newsworthy interviews with national LGBT political figures, activists, and community leaders.

Our guest on this week's program is Chris Davey, who is the communication director for the Vote Yes on Issue 1 campaign, also known as Citizens not Politicians.
Issue 1 is the constitutional amendment that will change how Ohio draws legislative districts, moving the pencil from partisan elected officials to a panel of diverse citizens who are not running for office.
If there is a single thing LGBTQ Ohioans could do to help thwart the legislative attacks, it is this measure. Accordingly, Gaywaves is on the record endorsing Issue 1.
In the news:
The nation of Georgia is signaling their desire to move closer to the Russian Federation by passing anti-LGBT laws that mirror Russia's.
Anti-transgender messages are making their way into political advertising, showing that anti-transgender messages are polling high in Republican races. Gaywaves looks at ads and breaks it down.
Maria Bruno is no longer with Equality Ohio. We look at her her new position directing a new organization.

A Franklin County Court has ruled that H.B. 68, the the ban on gender-affirming care for minors, and prohibition on transgender young women participating in scholastic athletics, is constitutional.
The decision is filled with animus toward transgender people and a belief that since transgender people have no federal or state protection as a "suspect class," whatever the general assembly wants to do to control their lives is pretty much fair game.
Freda Levenson is the lead attorney in the case representing the families who challenged the law. She is also the legal director of the ACLU of Ohio. This is her second Gaywaves appearance.
Levenson explains that an appeal has been filed, and that she believes it is strong.
